PDP Leadership Disowns NEC Meeting, Says Resolutions Invalid

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disowned a reported 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and the emergence of an interim National Working Committee.

The National Working Committee (NWC), led by Abdulraman Mohammed, said the meeting allegedly chaired by Sen. Adolphus Wabara was not authorised by the party’s leadership.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the NWC declared that any decisions taken at the meeting were null and void.

The statement maintained that the PDP constitution does not recognise the creation of a caretaker or interim leadership structure.

It also faulted the process on legal grounds, citing non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2026, which requires a minimum of 21 days’ notice to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before such meetings.

According to the NWC, there was no proof that INEC was notified or present, thereby invalidating the exercise.

The committee further criticised the involvement of Sen. Wabara, alleging that he had been expelled at ward level over anti-party activities linked to his support for Gov. Alex Otti.

It described references to the Board of Trustees (BoT) as an attempt to mislead, stressing that the body has only advisory functions and no executive authority.

The NWC called on party members, stakeholders and the public to disregard the meeting and its outcomes, describing the development as an attempt to create confusion within the party.

It reiterated its commitment to the rule of law and internal party democracy under its current leadership.
