Igboeze South Lawmaker Quits ADC, May Align With Obi

Mr Harrison Ogara of the Enugu State House of Assembly has resigned his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing internal crises within the party.

Ogara, who represents Igboeze South Constituency, confirmed his resignation in a letter to his ward chairman in Unadu, stating that the decision is effective immediately.

He said persistent litigations and lack of cohesion within the party had made meaningful political engagement difficult.

According to him, the internal challenges within the ADC had stalled progress and informed his decision to step down.

He expressed appreciation to party officials at the ward level for their support during his membership.

The resignation comes shortly after Mr Peter Obi’s reported move to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), fuelling speculation about possible realignments.

NAN reports that Ogara is currently the only opposition lawmaker in the 25-member assembly.

Elected in 2023 under the Labour Party (LP), he declined to defect alongside other lawmakers who moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A source close to the lawmaker said he is likely to follow Obi to the NDC.
