Osun 2026: Campaign C’ttee Unveils Media Centre For Adeleke’s Re-election

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), the campaign committee for the re-election of Gov. Ademola Adeleke, on Sunday inaugurated a media centre ahead of the Aug. 15 Osun governorship election.

The council said the initiative was aimed at mobilising support for the governor’s re-election.

Speaking at the unveiling of the media centre in Osogbo, the Director-General of TICC, Sen. Lere Oyewumi, said the campaign would focus on issue-based engagement and the promotion of the administration’s achievements.

Oyewumi commended residents for their continued support for Adeleke’s administration and praised the media for what he described as a constructive partnership with the government.

He said the campaign would prioritise facts, truth and respectful engagement, rather than negative politics allegedly promoted by opposition parties.

Oyewumi said the administration had improved the state’s financial position inherited from the previous government.

According to him, the state’s domestic debt was reduced from N148 billion in Dec. 2022 to N83.32 billion in the first quarter of 2025, representing a 43.84 per cent decrease.

“External debt also dropped from 91.78 million dollars to 75.14 million dollars, while Internally Generated Revenue increased from N24.47 billion in 2022 to N58.7 billion in 2025,” he said.

He added that the administration had cleared 18 months of inherited half-salary arrears and fully settled 28 months of contributory pension arrears owed by previous administrations.

Oyewumi listed projects executed by the administration to include flyovers in Ile-Ife and Osogbo, a dual carriageway in Ilesa, and road projects in Ila-Orangun, Ede and Iwo.

He said more than 300 kilometres of roads had been constructed across the state, adding that the government also implemented the new national minimum wage without industrial disputes.

“In education, Osun improved from 33rd position in NECO rankings in 2022 to seventh position in both 2024 and 2025.

“The administration has also distributed 440,000 cocoa seedlings, 80,000 oil palm seedlings and 60,000 cashew seedlings, while acquiring 31 tractors that have ploughed over 5,100 acres of farmland,” he said.

Oyewumi said the governor’s five-point re-election agenda would focus on youth, women and workers’ welfare, infrastructure consolidation, agro-industrial expansion, affordable healthcare and education, as well as an improved business environment for job creation.

He, however, warned against political violence and thuggery, urging security agencies to remain neutral and professional throughout the electioneering period.

Oyewumi expressed confidence that Adeleke would secure a renewed mandate to consolidate on his administration’s achievements.
