Balogun Charges Newly Promoted Lieutenant Colonels To Demonstrate Leadership Excellence

Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, Commander of the 4 Brigade in Benin, has called on five newly promoted Lieutenant Colonels to demonstrate discipline, loyalty and enhanced professionalism in their duties.

The advice was delivered during a decoration ceremony held on Tuesday, according to a statement by the Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, released on Wednesday.

Balogun told the officers that their promotion signifies increased responsibility within the Nigerian Army, stressing that it comes with higher expectations from the Army Council and the Chief of Army Staff.

He urged them to provide exemplary leadership, guide junior personnel and strengthen operational efficiency within their respective units.

The Brigade Commander further noted that the officers’ behaviour would play a significant role in shaping both unit performance and the wider reputation of the army.

He also paid tribute to the families of the officers, acknowledging their sacrifices and unwavering support throughout their careers.

“The journey to this rank was not walked alone. The sacrifices and support from your families have been invaluable,” he said.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Lieutenant Colonel David Omoregie thanked the army leadership for the recognition and reaffirmed their commitment to tackling security challenges.

The other officers decorated at the ceremony were Lieutenant Colonel Magnus Nwafor, Lieutenant Colonel Umaru Mohammed Tomsu, Lieutenant Colonel Monday Terkuma Nwali and Lieutenant Colonel Suleiman Kawu Alkali.
