President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed support for the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, while calling on Russia to follow suit by ending its strikes against Ukraine.
Writing on X, Zelenskiy reiterated Kyiv’s longstanding position in favour of a ceasefire, emphasising that diplomacy remains the path to resolving conflicts.
“It is obvious to everyone that a ceasefire can create the right preconditions for agreements,” he said, welcoming the truce in the Middle East and Gulf region.
Ukraine has previously praised the United States for its firm stance against Iran, a key ally of Russia which has supplied drones used in attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.
Kyiv continues to press Moscow to agree to a full ceasefire in the protracted conflict, in order to open the door to peace negotiations.
Russia, however, insists that comprehensive peace terms must be settled before it halts military operations.
Zelenskiy further revealed that Ukraine has deployed over 200 specialists to the Middle East to assist in countering drone threats, noting that Ukrainian military teams will continue to contribute to strengthening regional security.
He reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to both defending its sovereignty and supporting broader international stability efforts.
