Man Kills Eight Children In Shreveport Before Being Shot Dead By Police

A man has killed eight children and injured two women in a shooting described by police as a domestic incident in Shreveport, in the US state of Louisiana.

Christopher Bordelon, speaking on behalf of the Shreveport Police Department, said the violence unfolded early on Sunday morning at approximately 6:00 a.m. local time.

Seven of the victims were the suspect’s own children, aged between one and 14, while one of the two injured women is believed to be their mother.

Police reported that the suspect initially shot a woman at one property before travelling to another location, where he carried out the killings.

Following the attacks, the man fled the scene, allegedly hijacking a vehicle. He was later shot dead by officers during a police chase.

Authorities noted that the suspect had previously been arrested in 2019 in connection with a firearms offence and was known to law enforcement.

While investigations are still under way, police have indicated that the shooting appears to have stemmed from a domestic dispute.
