The Kebbi State Police Command says it has arrested 47 suspects and recovered arms, ammunition and rustled livestock in a series of operations across the state.
Commissioner of Police, Mr Umar Hadejia, made the disclosure on Monday in Birnin Kebbi while briefing journalists on recent security breakthroughs.
He said police operatives, working with the Nigerian Army, recovered about 33 cattle suspected to have been rustled by criminal elements linked to Lakurawa terrorists.
According to him, on 29 April, two suspected bandits were arrested along the Bena–Mai Rai Rai Road with ammunition, cash, motorcycles and communication devices. The suspects reportedly confessed to involvement in attacks on villages in the area.
Mr Hadejia said another case on 1 May led to the arrest of two suspects during an attempted motorcycle snatching incident, during which a victim sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
He also said a third suspect was arrested on 2 May following intelligence on a violent robbery along the Masalaci Zarya–Jega Road, while efforts are ongoing to track down accomplices.
The commissioner disclosed that between January and date, the command had recovered 10 AK-47 rifles, alongside several other locally made firearms, pistols and over 1,200 rounds of ammunition.
He added that 22 stolen motorcycles had been recovered and returned to owners, while additional firearms and communication devices seized from suspects were under investigation.
Mr Hadejia said 47 suspects had been arrested for offences including armed robbery, banditry and motorcycle snatching.
He urged motorcycle operators to be vigilant and avoid transporting suspicious passengers to isolated locations, warning that such practices are often exploited by criminals.
