Former PDP Spokesman Peretei Takes Over As NDC State Chairman In Ondo

A former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Mr Kennedy Peretei, has been elected chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress following a state congress in Akure.

Mr Peretei emerged alongside 15 other executives, with Mr Babatunde Daoda elected Secretary, Mr Aruwajoye Adedoyin Treasurer, and Mr Owobola Adebola as Publicity Secretary.

Speaking after his election, Mr Peretei said he was grateful for the confidence shown in him, adding that the party would position itself as a strong opposition force in the state.

He said the NDC had recorded massive membership registration within 24 hours, describing it as evidence of public demand for political change ahead of the 2027 elections.

He pledged that the party would hold government accountable and ensure stronger political competition in the state.

Mr Peretei added that the NDC would adopt consensus-based primaries, while warning against any attempt to restrict opposition activity.

He argued that the political environment must allow wider participation and representation.

The congress was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State.
