Governor Hyacinth Alia has welcomed the outcome of a reconciliation meeting involving stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, describing it as a step towards restoring unity within the party.
According to a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Tersoo Kula, the governor commended stakeholders for responding to his invitation and embracing reconciliation after years of internal disagreements.
Mr Alia said the resolutions reached at the meeting would help foster cooperation and strengthen cohesion among party members across the state.
He called on stakeholders to maintain the spirit of dialogue and mutual respect, urging them to work collectively in advancing the party’s goals.
The governor also encouraged continued collaboration in promoting peace, development and effective governance in Benue.
He praised the orderly conduct of the meeting and the willingness of participants to reconcile, noting that it represented progress in rebuilding confidence within the party.
Among those in attendance were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume; former Governor, Sen. Gabriel Suswam; and former Deputy Governor, Chief Stephen Lawani, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.
Mr Alia said their participation demonstrated a collective commitment to the stability and future of the APC in the state.
