Anambra ADC Halts Party Congresses, Calls For Calm Among Members

The Anambra State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended all scheduled congresses across the state until further notice.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Awka, the party’s Chairman, Mr Patrick Obianyo, and Secretary, Mr Lawrence Okeke, said the decision reflects the party’s adherence to legal processes and respect for judicial authority.

They urged party members and stakeholders to maintain calm and conduct themselves in a peaceful and lawful manner during the period.

The statement noted that fresh dates for the congresses and conventions would be communicated after the completion of ongoing consultations at the national level.

It reaffirmed that the Obianyo-led leadership remains the recognised authority in the state chapter, and advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the public to ignore any contrary directives issued by other individuals.

The party concluded by encouraging its supporters to remain united and disciplined while the situation is being resolved.
