Yahaya-Daura Clinches APC Ticket With Landslide Victory In Daura Senatorial Primary

The Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya-Daura, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for the Daura Zone in a decisive contest ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections.

The outcome was announced on Monday in Daura following collation of results by Dr Yakubu Maccido, who represented the party’s national secretariat.

Maccido disclosed that Yahaya-Daura polled 78,394 votes, while his closest rival, Ahmed Kabir, scored 2,274 votes.

He subsequently declared Yahaya-Daura the APC candidate for the Daura Senatorial District, noting that the exercise was conducted peacefully and in line with party guidelines.

He commended the orderly conduct of delegates and said the process demonstrated the All Progressives Congress’s commitment to credible internal democracy.

In his acceptance remarks, Yahaya-Daura thanked party leaders and members for the overwhelming support, promising to deliver effective representation if elected.

He urged other aspirants and their supporters to embrace unity and work collectively to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, Senator Muntari Dandutse of Funtua Zone and Abdul’aziz Musa-Yar’adua of Katsina Central also emerged as APC candidates through consensus arrangements.

Party officials described the primaries across the zones as largely peaceful and well-organised.
