2027 Election: We’ll Consolidate On Makinde’s Gains – APM Governorship Candidate

The consensus candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Mr Bimbo Adekanmbi, has pledged to build on the achievements of Gov. Seyi Makinde, if he wins the 2027 election.
Adekanmbi made the pledge on Monday during a private visit to the Chief Executive Officer of Fresh FM, Mr Yinka Ayefele, at the Ayefele Music House in Ibadan.
He said that the people of Oyo State want sustenance of the people oriented projects started by the Makinde administration in respect of healthcare delivery, agriculture, provision of infrastructure, security, workers’ welfare, among others.”
He assured the people of the people of the state that his administration, if victorious in 2027, would consolidate on every achievement of Makinde’s administration.
Adekanmbi, while seeking the support of the management of the radio station, challenged it to ask hard questions whenever he appears on its programmes.
According to him, there are still seven or eight months before the general elections and I am ready to let the people of Oyo State know what my programmes are.
He commended the station for its fair, accurate, objective, and unbiased reportage, and urged it to maintain its credibility.
In his response, Ayefele said that his radio stations remain committed to working with the public rather than for individuals.
He maintained that Fresh FM stations belong to nobody and are for everybody, “because we are unbiased.”
Ayefele said that the APM candidate would get the support of the station if he gives it the assurance that he would do more than what Gov. Seyi Makinde has done in the state.
He charged Adekanmbi to prepare himself for the big task ahead.
“It is a big task. We have a lot of people, brilliant heads, brilliant politicians in the state, but you were chosen to represent the party,” Ayefele said.
He wished the governorship aspirant success in his endeavour.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Makinde is yet to publicly
announce Adekanmbi as his preferred governorship candidate.
However, reports have it that the governor announced Adekanmbi as his successor during a meeting with stakeholders in his faction of the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday evening.
Many of Makinde’s allies, appointees, members of the state House of Assembly, several governorship aspirants in his PDP faction have decamped to the APM.
The governor, during the meeting, also pleaded with the aspirants to give Adekanmbi their support.
Following the indoor announcement, Adekanmbi began visiting key figures in Ibadan.
Adekanmbi, a former Commissioner for Finance under the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, has remained active in public service and political discussions within the state.
In 2025, Makinde appointed him chairman of the committee overseeing the upgrade of the Ibadan Airport, one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the current administration.
