President Bola Tinubu has joined the 2027 presidential race after the All Progressives Congress (APC) expression of interest and nomination forms were purchased on his behalf.
The N100 million forms were obtained at the Abuja Continental Hotel by House of Representatives member James Faleke, representing the president and the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), alongside other party supporters.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise signals the formal opening of the APC nomination process for the 2027 general elections, which will close on 4 May.
APC National Organising Secretary Suleiman Argungu said the development reflects the party’s readiness to conduct a credible and transparent primary election.
Faleke said the purchase was funded collectively by support groups and citizens backing the president, adding that Tinubu would contest and emerge victorious in 2027. He also confirmed that more than 1,000 contributors to the exercise were based in Lagos.
The APC has fixed the cost of its presidential nomination form at N100 million, in line with the previous election cycle. Screening of aspirants and an appeal mechanism have also been scheduled as part of the process.
Party Deputy National Publicity Secretary Duro Meseko said the presidential primary has been rescheduled from 15 May to 23 May, alongside other revisions to the 2027 election timetable.
