INEC Begins Recruitment Of Election Officials Ahead Of Ekiti Poll, Sets May 18 Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened online applications for ad-hoc staff ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election fixed for June 20.

According to a notice released on Tuesday in Abuja, the recruitment exercise began on April 25 and will end on May 18 via the commission’s official recruitment platform, INECPRES.

INEC outlined five categories of election personnel to be recruited, including Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Technical Support officers, and Registration Area Centre Managers.

For Supervisory Presiding Officers, eligible applicants include federal civil servants in MDAs on Grade Levels 10–14 and INEC staff on Grade Levels 09–14.

Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers will be drawn from serving and former NYSC members (2022–2025), selected civil servants, INEC staff, and eligible students from federal tertiary institutions.

The commission said Registration Area Centre Managers must be school heads or qualified staff of institutions serving as registration centres, while RATECH roles are strictly reserved for INEC ICT personnel not deployed elsewhere.

INEC emphasised that all applicants must be politically neutral and must not be affiliated with or supportive of any political party or candidate.

It added that, except for ICT-related roles, all applicants must be residents of Ekiti State.

Applications are to be submitted through pres.inecnigeria.org or via www.presmobile.inecnigeria.org
using Android devices.
