Scavenger Remanded For Allegedly Damaging N2m CCTV Camera

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Monday, remanded a scavenger, Jimoh SAAI, 22, facing trial over alleged N2 million CCTV Camera damaged.

SAAI, who is without legal representation in court, pleaded guilty to a four-count charge bordering on burglary, forceful entry, damage and stealing.

The Magistrate, Mr Abosede Sarumi, ordered that the defendant should be remanded at Nigerian Correctional Service, Ile-Ife.

He also adjourned the case until March 30 for mentioned.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Irewole Jimoh,told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 11, 2026 around 01;05 am., at AVIC farm, Akinola Area, Ipetumodu.

Jimoh said that the defendant unlawfully burgled the electric power house, property of DCP Adedeji Fola, the complainant, with the intent to steal.

He also said that the defendant unlawfully entered into the property, adding that he willfully damage the CCTV camera gadget valued at N2 million.

He further said that the defendant stole eight batteries valued at N1.2 million and one Sprayer Box worth N100, 000.

He said that the offences contravened sections 383, 390(9), 411, 412 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
