The That Good Media (TGM) Academy will bridge Nigeria’s talent management skills gap by equipping professionals with industry knowledge, ethical standards and practical experience.
This is contained in a statement by the Chief Executive Officer of TGM, Toyosi Etim-Effiong, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos.
The statement said the academy would professionalise talent management and support Nigeria’s expanding creative economy.
It said the entertainment industry lacked a structured training pathway for talent managers despite its rapid growth and increasing global recognition.
According to the statement, the academy will prepare professionals to help musicians, actors, filmmakers and influencers build sustainable careers and attract international opportunities.
The statement disclosed that as part of its preparations, TGM would host a Talent Management Leadership Roundtable on July 28 in Lagos.
It said the roundtable is organised in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Megowa and the French Consulate.
The theme of the roundtable is: “Talent Management as Critical Infrastructure for Cultural Exchange and the Creative Economy.”
It said the event would bring together talent managers, entertainment executives, brand leaders, diplomats, media professionals, creatives and cultural institutions.
The statement said participants would examine the future of talent management and its contribution to Nigeria’s creative economy.
It described the event as a knowledge-sharing platform designed to promote dialogue on industry challenges and emerging opportunities.
It added that participants would discuss professional talent management, brand partnerships, corporate relationships and international collaborations.
The statement said diplomatic missions and cultural institutions would also explore opportunities for cultural exchange with Nigeria’s creative sector.
It said recommendations from the roundtable would shape the academy’s curriculum, partnerships and learning framework.
The academy also plans to unveil a scholarship fund for aspiring talent managers and introduce Megowa, a platform connecting talents, managers, brands and global opportunities.
The statement said the academy would be inaugurated in September 2026 as Nigeria’s first institution dedicated to training talent managers.
It said the initiative would establish talent management as a recognised profession and support the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s creative economy.
