PDP South-West Backs Makinde, Rejects Impeachment Rumours

The South-West arm of the Peoples Democratic Party has expressed strong support for Seyi Makinde, commending his leadership and dismissing reports of an alleged impeachment plot as unfounded.

At a news briefing held in Ibadan on Monday, the party’s zonal executives said the governor had played a key role in preserving Nigeria’s multi-party democratic system.

The Zonal Publicity Secretary, Sanya Atofarati, said Makinde had consistently ensured that opposition voices are accommodated within the political space.

He described the governor’s administration as stable and focused, adding that it remained committed to delivering good governance to the people of Oyo State.

Addressing reports of a possible impeachment, Atofarati said the claims were “a calculated attempt” to generate political tension and should not be taken seriously.

The party also used the occasion to highlight broader national concerns, noting increasing economic challenges and insecurity across the country.

It reaffirmed its commitment to offering Nigerians a viable alternative based on stability, inclusive governance, and progress.

Atofarati called on citizens to remain vigilant and reject any efforts to destabilise the country for political advantage, while also pledging continued support for the PDP’s National Working Committee.

He concluded by reiterating the South-West zone’s dedication to party unity and its resolve to contribute to a better future for Nigerians.
