NDLEA Busts International Drug Network, Seizes Cocaine And Psychotropic Drugs

The NDLEA has also uncovered an international drug trafficking syndicate involving a medical doctor and foreign collaborators, leading to multiple arrests and seizures across Nigeria.

Babafemi said the operation began with the arrest of an Ivorian at Kano airport who was found with 82 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.49 kilogrammes.

The suspect allegedly arrived from Milan and travelled across Lagos, Enugu and Kano before ingesting the drugs in a hotel room, with plans to deliver them in Italy for €5,000.

Investigations later led operatives to a medical doctor identified as a key accomplice, who was arrested in Magboro, Ogun State, on 27 March and later transferred to Kano.

Recovered from him were 63 grammes of promazepam and seven ampoules of promethazine injection.

In separate operations, NDLEA officers arrested three suspects in Sango Ota, Ogun State, with 34 kilogrammes of skunk, while 56.2 kilogrammes were recovered from a female suspect in Owerri, Imo State.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd.), commended officers for their efforts and urged them to sustain a balance between drug supply reduction and demand reduction strategies nationwide.
