The All Progressives Congress (APC) has produced surprise outcomes in Nasarawa State after two sitting members of the House of Representatives of Nigeria and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly lost their party tickets for the 2027 elections.
Those affected include Mohammed Abdulmumini-Ari, Jeremiah Umaru, and Dr Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
The results were declared in Lafia on Sunday by the APC House of Representatives Primary Election Committee Chairman in the state, Musa Shuaibu-Guri.
He said the primaries were conducted peacefully across most constituencies, with party officials and security agencies overseeing the process.
According to him, four constituencies have completed their exercises, while the result from Awe/Doma/Keana remains pending due to terrain and logistical issues.
In Nasarawa/Toto, incumbent Abdulmumini-Ari was defeated by Mohammed Al-Bashir, who secured a commanding lead.
In Akwanga/Nasarawa-Eggon/Wamba, Tony Bala-Shammah defeated Jeremiah Umaru, while in Keffi/Kokona/Karu, Daniel Ogazi unseated Speaker Danladi Jatau.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Al-Makura emerged unopposed in Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency.
The committee said the winners complied with APC guidelines and internal electoral procedures and were duly declared candidates for the 2027 general elections.
It described the exercise as evidence of the party’s commitment to internal democracy ahead of the next electoral cycle.
