The Armed Forces have reassured Nigerians of continued unity and professionalism following a clash between Nigerian Navy personnel and soldiers in Bayelsa.
According to Commander Rasheed Iginla, the incident does not reflect the long-standing cooperation between the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Army.
“It is important to emphasise that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain a unified and professional institution, bound by a common mandate to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our nation,” he stated.
He stressed that both services continue to operate in close synergy and mutual respect while carrying out their constitutional duties.
Describing the clash as unfortunate, Iginla maintained that it does not undermine the enduring spirit of joint operations among the services.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria is unwavering in its commitment to professionalism, discipline and ethical norms that define the profession of arms,” he said.
He also urged the public to remain calm and continue supporting the military in its efforts to maintain peace, security and stability across the country.
