An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Monday, sentenced 27-year-old Mohammed Bello, to one year imprisonment for stealing items worth N4.7 million.
Bello was arraigned on May 20 on a three -count charge of conspiracy, unlawful breaking and stealing.
He pleaded guilty to the three -count charge.
Delivery the judgment, Magistrate Oluwaferanmi Raji sentenced Bello to three months imprisonment for count one (conspiracy), three months imprisonment for count two (unlawful breaking) and one year imprisonment for count three (stealing).
Raji ordered that the sentences run concurrently.
The court considered the fact that the convict was a first-time offender and had pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Elisha Tellang said the convict committed the offences on May 13, at about 6.30 00 a.m., at Ogun-Osun River Basin Authority, Ibadan.
Tellang said the defendant and others at large, unlawfully broke the window and entered the cold room and processing plant of one Mrs Olanike Ogundipe.
He said the convict stole cable wire, ice block machine compressor, roofing sheet, meters and electric control box, all worth N4,730,000.
He said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 516, 414 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
