Bishop Urges Nigerians To Confront Challenges With Faith

The Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Badejo, has urged Nigerians to confront national challenges with faith, goodwill and active goodness.

Badejo, who stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ibadan, said that these virtues could “crowd out evil” in the society.

He acknowledged the weight of hardship many citizens currently bore.

“In moments when life feels overwhelming, challenges seem endless, and we find ourselves asking, ‘How long, O Lord?’, this prayer reminds us to turn our hearts to God.

“Even in our deepest struggles, He hears the cries of His people and remains our refuge, strength, and hope,” he said.

The bishop anchored his message on Psalm 130:1: “Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice.”

He, therefore, urged Nigerians not to lose faith in God’s timing, mercy, and power.

Badejo stressed that prayer alone was not enough without corresponding action.

“Good works, goodwill and prayers are all necessary. We must crowd out evil in our generation and nation,” he said.

The cleric noted that Nigeria’s trials required collective responsibility, adding that light will always prevail over darkness when citizens choose goodness over despair.

“May we never lose faith in God’s timing, mercy, and power.

“Let us continue to pray, trust, and believe that His light will shine through every darkness and His glory will prevail over every trial,” he said.

NAN reports that Badejo’s message comes amid widespread concerns over economic hardship, insecurity and social uncertainty across the country.
