Chinese teacher underscores need for adequate investment in medical technology

Zhibiao Wang, a Chinese medical teacher, has underscored the need for adequate investment in advanced medical technology to promote treatment of tumor health related issues in the human body across Africa.

Zhibiao, a Professor of Medicine, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing African media delegation on field visit to Chongqing, the Southwestern Municipality of China, on tour of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The media delegation that  consisted of 35 journalists from across 31 African countries visited the Chongqing Haifu Medical Technology Co. Ltd., on sideline of their coverage of the summit.
Zhibiao, a recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund,  said investment in the technology  became important to boost the treatment of solid tumors of any type of soft tissues.
“These include uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, pancreas tumor, breast cancer, kidney tumor and bone tumor.
“We only have four countries in Africa that have the ultrasound technology machine for the  treatment of tumor.
“The countries are Nigeria, Tanzania, Egypt and South Africa. We believe that in the future,  more African countries will embrace this technology.
“This is because it will help to protect the fertility function of women and to preserve the organs of tumor patients.”
He explained that China had in the past,  faced challenges in tackling cases of tumor, similarly to the inadequate medical technology in Africa at the moment.
He urged African countries to key into China’s medical ultrasound technology innovations, to further promote the healthcare services and wellbeing of people in the continent.
Zhibiao, who is the founder of the Haifu Medical Ultrasound Technology said, “The technology has proven to reduce  cases of damage resulting from breast cancer. Women can keep their breast through this technology.
“The System-Haifu Model JC Series is also China’s first large medical equipment with full intellectual property rights. The first JC System was collected by the National Museum of China in 2020.

“The JC system has been exported to 29 countries and regions and has collectively treated more than 200,000 patients world-wide.”
The highpoint of the media tour was visit to the Mountain City Alley, a landmark in the city’s Yuzhong district to provide journalists experience of the local arts of long-spout tea pouring, face-changing of Sichuan Opera and Chongqing World Finance Centre.
Others included visit to the city’s Dazu, Yongchuan, Jiangbei, Yubei districts and the Liangjiang new area among others.
Chongqing, a connecting point for the Belt and Road Initiative, and Yangtze River Economic Belt is located on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River,
It has key geographic advantage as strategic area in the national development programmes for China’s western region. (NAN
