The Nigerian Army has arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators in Zamfara State during a stop-and-search operation conducted by troops of the 1 Brigade at a military checkpoint in Gusau Local Government Area.
The suspects were detained late on 26 June at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Jangeme checkpoint after soldiers observed what was described as suspicious behaviour during routine security screening.
A military source said preliminary investigations suggest the individuals may have links with terrorist elements operating within the state.
According to the source, digital evidence retrieved from the suspects’ mobile phones reportedly included images and other materials associated with terrorist activities.
A motorcycle allegedly used by the suspects, along with two mobile phones, was recovered and retained for further forensic examination and intelligence analysis.
The suspects are currently in military custody as investigators work to establish the full extent of their involvement and identify any wider network of collaborators across the North-West.
Military authorities said the operation reflects ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist support structures by targeting informants and logistics networks that sustain armed groups in Zamfara State.
