No Retreat, Girei Camp Declares After APC Clearance

The camp of Adamawa State governorship aspirant, Dr Saliu Bakare Girei, has declared that there would be “no retreat and no surrender” following his clearance by the screening committee of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The Media and Publicity Adviser to the aspirant, Macualay Hunohasi, disclosed this during an exclusive interview on Saturday, shortly after the APC screening committee cleared Girei to contest in the party’s governorship primary scheduled for May 23, 2026.

Hunohasi described the development as a major breakthrough for the campaign, saying all obstacles standing against the aspirant had been removed.

“With this development, every hurdle standing on his path has been removed. The coast is now fully clear,” he said.

He noted that the campaign structure had already been fully mobilised across the state, expressing optimism that the aspirant would emerge victorious at the primary election.

According to him, the governorship hopeful has continued to receive overwhelming support from party faithful and residents across the six local government areas of Adamawa North Senatorial Zone.

He added that the campaign would soon extend consultations and strategic visits to the Central and Southern Senatorial Zones to consolidate support ahead of the primary.

“There is no retreat. There is no surrender,” Hunohasi declared.

The media aide further described Girei as one of the most favoured aspirants in the race, with growing grassroots acceptance across the state.

“Dr Saliu Bakare Girei remains focused, determined and ready to serve Adamawa people. The support from party faithful and coordinators across the state has been massive and encouraging,” he added.

He maintained that the movement backing the APC aspirant was gaining momentum daily as preparations intensified for the party’s governorship primary.
