New FCC Website Unveiled As Nigeria Pushes For Digital Governance Reform

Nigeria has taken a step towards digital governance reform with the unveiling of a new official website for the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

The unveiling was carried out in Abuja by George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, who described the development as a strategic milestone in advancing openness and accountability in public service.

Akume highlighted the importance of the commission in maintaining equitable representation across Nigeria’s regions, noting that its responsibilities are central to fostering trust and inclusiveness in governance.

He urged the commission to ensure the platform remains dynamic, providing real-time information, accessible services and transparent reporting mechanisms for the public.

Representing the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, Laila Jibrin emphasised that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises innovation and digital transformation.

She stressed that the effectiveness of the platform would depend on its regular updates, user-friendliness and responsiveness to citizens’ needs.

Executive Chairman Hulayat Omidiran said the website represents a modern approach to communication and service delivery, enabling improved interaction between the commission, government agencies and the public.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, through his representative Idris Wase, commended the commission for adopting technology-driven solutions to enhance oversight, compliance and equal access to opportunities.

The launch marks the beginning of a more responsive and digitally enabled phase for the commission, reinforcing its commitment to institutional reform and inclusive governance.
