NCDC Confirms Isolated COVID-19 Case In Cross River

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has reported a single confirmed case of COVID-19 in Cross River State, assuring the public that there is currently no sign of community transmission.

According to Director-General Jide Idris, the affected individual has been placed in isolation and is undergoing treatment in line with national health protocols. The patient is said to be stable and responding positively.

Health authorities in Cross River State, in collaboration with the NCDC, have implemented rapid response measures, including intensified surveillance, contact tracing, and reinforced infection control procedures.

“All identified contacts are under active follow-up, and there is no evidence at present of wider spread,” Idris stated.

He emphasised that Nigeria’s disease surveillance systems remain fully operational, noting that the swift identification of the case highlights the country’s preparedness.

Members of the public have been advised to remain vigilant by practising proper hygiene, seeking medical care if symptoms arise, and following guidance from official health authorities.

The NCDC reaffirmed its commitment to closely tracking developments and issuing timely updates as needed.
