Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday appeared before the Federal High Court in Kaduna as proceedings commenced on his bail application.
The case, which had been adjourned, resumed following the burial of his mother.
El-Rufai is facing trial before Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa after being arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission on a 10-count charge.
The charges border on alleged conversion and possession of public property, as well as money laundering.
The former governor was brought to court after spending over a month in detention.
The court had earlier fixed March 31, 2026, to hear all pending applications, including his bail request.
However, the anti-graft agency had, on March 27, 2026, released him on compassionate grounds following the death of his mother, Hajiya Ummar El-Rufai, in Cairo, Egypt.
Proceedings are expected to determine whether the court will grant him bail pending the continuation of his trial.
