Government Steps In After Mother Of 8 Welcomes Quintuplets

The Kano State Government has taken responsibility for the medical care of a woman who delivered quintuplets at a public hospital in Kano.

Hafsatu Yusuf, already a mother of eight, gave birth to five babies—three boys and two girls—at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where both she and the newborns are receiving specialist treatment.

The announcement was made by the Kano State Ministry of Health in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Nabilusi Na’isa.

Her husband, Salisu Nufi’u, said the birth was her ninth, adding that the family had previously welcomed twins but had never experienced a multiple birth of this scale.

He thanked the government for its timely assistance, saying it had come at a crucial moment.

Authorities said the intervention reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery, particularly in maternal and child health, and to support low-income households.

They reaffirmed their commitment to improving health outcomes and ensuring wider access to quality medical services across the state.
