No Crisis At DUFUHS, Says Vice-Chancellor Amid Council ‘Hijack’ Claims

The Vice-Chancellor of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, Jesse Uneke, has denied reports suggesting that the university’s governing council has been hijacked by political interests.

Addressing journalists in Uburu, Prof Uneke described the claims as inaccurate and misleading, insisting that the institution remained stable and well-managed.

He said the governing council was actively overseeing the university’s affairs, including infrastructure projects, and continued to function effectively.

“We are not disturbed by such claims. The university is progressing, and the council is doing its job,” he stated.

The Pro-Chancellor, Adebayo Shittu, also dismissed the allegations, emphasising that the institution was focused on delivering quality medical education.

He highlighted the availability of modern facilities and a broad range of courses, noting that students from across Nigeria continued to enrol in the university.

A representative of the Federal Ministry of Education, Paul Ogbe, supported the position of the university leadership, stating that there was no evidence of instability.

He affirmed that both the governing council and management were working in unity, ensuring smooth operations at the institution.
