Dangote Foundation Donates 20,000 Bags Of Rice To Vulnerable Residents In Bauchi

The Aliko Dangote Foundation on Monday donated 20,000 bags of 10-kilogram rice to support vulnerable residents at Ramadan in Bauchi State.

The state government, in collaboration with the foundation, inaugurated the distribution of the rice palliatives to persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups across the state.

Speaking, Gov. Bala Mohammed, represented by his Deputy, Auwal Jatau, commended the foundation for the sustained support to the people of the state as part of its humanitarian intervention programme.

Mohammed noted that the foundation’s various interventions since the beginning of his administration had significantly improved the living conditions of many indigent residents, particularly the less privileged.

He directed the state Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to ensure that the distribution process was conducted fairly, transparently, and strictly targeted at the intended beneficiaries.

Hajiya Hajara Wanka, the Commissioner in the Ministry, said the initiative formed part of the foundation’s nationwide humanitarian outreach programme covering all the 36 states of the federation.

According to her, Bauchi State received 20,000 bags of 10-kilogram rice under the programme, which will be distributed to carefully identified beneficiaries across the state.

Wanka explained that the ministry prioritised the most vulnerable groups in the selection process, including persons with disability, widows, the elderly, and other disadvantaged members of the society.

She added that the intervention would cushion the effect of economic hardship currently faced by many households.
