APC Dismisses Rumours Of Early Governorship Nomination In Zamfara

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has dismissed as false reports claiming that the party has nominated a governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The denial follows widespread speculation that had reportedly unsettled party members across the state, particularly on social media platforms.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Gusau, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris, said the rumours were unfounded and did not reflect the position of the party leadership.

He stressed that no decision had been taken regarding the party’s governorship ticket for 2027 and urged party members to disregard the reports.

“The APC leadership is not aware of any nomination of a governorship candidate for the 2027 elections,” Idris said.
“Party members should remain calm and focused, as the party remains united.”

Idris called on members not to be distracted by unverified information, adding that the APC remained open to aspirants interested in contesting when the appropriate time comes.

He emphasised that candidates for any election would only emerge through constitutionally recognised party primaries.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the rumour had generated anxiety among party supporters before it was officially denied by the APC leadership.
