Bwari APC Candidate Unveils Development Agenda Ahead Of Area Council Election

Mr Haruna Shekwolo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Bwari Area Council, has reaffirmed his determination to contest and win the forthcoming Federal Capital Territory area council election slated for 21 February.

Shekwolo, popularly known as Audi, made the declaration during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.

He said he was enjoying overwhelming support from residents of the area council and would not be deterred by political challenges or pressure to step down.

According to him, his confidence is rooted in his previous experience at the FCT Area Council Service Commission, which he said had adequately prepared him for leadership.

NAN reports that Shekwolo is contesting the election with his running mate, Mr Hassan Mohammed, on the APC platform.

The chairmanship candidate outlined a development-focused agenda that includes improved infrastructure, accessible healthcare, enhanced teacher welfare, environmental sanitation and improved security.

He recalled his tenure as Supervisory Councillor for Environmental Sanitation, during which he facilitated infrastructure projects in Ushafa community, adding that similar projects would be extended to other parts of the council.

Shekwolo also promised to prioritise education by improving school infrastructure and addressing long-standing challenges such as dilapidated classrooms and inadequate learning facilities.

In addition, he pledged to facilitate electricity supply to If, Where and Kawu wards, which he said had been without power for several years.

On security, Shekwolo said he would promote collaboration among security agencies, vigilante groups and traditional institutions to ensure safety and stability across communities.

He further promised to empower traders and farmers through targeted financial support and agricultural inputs, while strengthening engagement with religious and community leaders to foster unity.

To promote transparency and accountability, Shekwolo said his administration would hold regular town hall meetings to encourage dialogue and inclusive governance.
