Kaduna NSCDC Promotes 118 Officers As Governor Hails Improved Security

No fewer than 118 officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna State Command, were decorated on Tuesday following their promotion, with the leadership of the Corps charging them to demonstrate discipline, professionalism and commitment to service.

At the ceremony held at the command’s headquarters, the State Commandant, Mr Panam Musa, said promotions in the Corps were the result of years of sacrifice, loyalty and hard work.

He praised the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Audi, for prioritising staff welfare and career advancement, describing the promotions as a clear indication of the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the Corps.

“Every promotion carries greater responsibility. Officers must be ready to meet higher expectations in leadership and accountability,” Musa said.

He highlighted the role of the NSCDC in Nigeria’s internal security framework, stressing its involvement in protecting critical infrastructure, combating insecurity, safeguarding lives and property, mediating conflicts and supporting emergency response efforts.

Musa noted that Kaduna State remained central to national security and assured residents that the command would continue to intensify efforts to reduce crime across the state. He also thanked the families of the officers for their support and acknowledged Governor Uba Sani’s cooperation with security agencies.

In his goodwill message, Governor Sani said Kaduna State had recorded significant improvements in security. Represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Sule Shu’aibu, the governor attributed the progress to effective collaboration between the state government and security agencies.

He said major highways, including the Kaduna–Abuja road, the Zaria corridor, Southern Kaduna routes to Jos and Birnin Gwari, had become safer, while communities previously affected by insecurity were experiencing renewed economic activity.

The governor commended the NSCDC and other security agencies for their dedication, urging the newly promoted officers to justify the confidence placed in them by upholding integrity and professionalism.

Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Deputy Commandant Olatunji Yusuf expressed gratitude to the NSCDC leadership and pledged continued commitment to their duties.

The event was attended by heads of sister security agencies, traditional rulers and senior government officials.
