The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the Federal Government over the kidnapping of 163 worshippers in Kaduna State, saying the incident reflects a deepening security crisis under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The worshippers were abducted during a church service on Sunday in Kajuru Local Government Area. The PDP described the attack as a tragic and unacceptable act of criminality.
According to a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the incident demonstrated the government’s failure to guarantee the safety of Nigerians and protect their right to worship freely.
“Nigerians must not live in fear when going to churches or mosques,” Ememobong said, adding that attacks on places of worship had become disturbingly frequent.
The opposition party called on the APC-led Federal Government to immediately begin coordinated rescue efforts to ensure the safe return of the abducted worshippers. It also cautioned against mishandling rescue operations, stressing the need to prioritise victims’ safety and identity protection over publicity.
The PDP reaffirmed its solidarity with the affected families and urged the government to take decisive action to restore public confidence in national security.
