Senator Okey Ezea, a Labour Party representative for Enugu North Senatorial District, has died. His family confirmed his death in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying he passed away shortly after 11 p.m. on 18 November at a private medical facility in Lagos.
The announcement, released by his son, Jideofor Ezea, described the news as a “painful loss” and requested public prayers and support during the period of mourning.
Ezea was elected to the Senate in 2023 and held significant committee positions, serving as vice-chairman of both the Senate Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa and NEPAD, and the Committee on Culture and Creative Economy.
He is survived by his wife, Chioma, and their four children.
