Plateau State Governor Caleb Submits ₦914.8bn 2026 Budget, Prioritises Development And Security

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has proposed a ₦914.8 billion budget for the 2026 fiscal year, with a strong focus on economic stability, infrastructure, and security.

Presenting the appropriation bill, titled “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability 2.0,” before the State House of Assembly in Jos on Wednesday, Mutfwang said the budget reflects his administration’s commitment to sustained growth and people-centred governance.

Of the total estimate, ₦341.4 billion (37.3%) is designated for capital projects, while ₦573.5 billion (62.7%) is allocated to recurrent expenses. The figure represents a ₦306.7 billion increase compared to the 2025 fiscal plan.

“The desire and passion of this administration is to serve the people of Plateau sincerely and without compromise,” the governor said, adding that his government will intensify efforts to alleviate hardship and address insecurity through partnerships with security agencies.

He pledged to continue implementing the Plateau State Strategic Development Framework (PSDF) 2023–2027, which outlines medium-term priorities for sustainable development.

Speaker Na’anlong Daniel praised the governor’s timely submission of the budget, promising that the House would conduct a thorough review and ensure speedy passage of the appropriation bill.
