Insecurity: Sokoto LG Chairman Debunk Inaction Claims

Isa local government chairman in Sokoto East Senatorial District, Hon.
Sharehu Abubakar Kamarawa has denied any allegation of inactiveness over recent and continued baditry attacks within his domain.

The chairman who decried as baseless social media attacks that he never acted on intelligence regarding imminent attacks by bandits, clarified that, he acted very swiftly by notifying and mobilizing both local and conventional security agencies to the supposed targeted villages only for the bandits to make a detour via another route.

Responding in a signed press statement, the chairman said, he is ever responsive to his responsibly, adding, locals should always endeavour to give useful and timely information to security agancies always.

Part of his statement read, “The attention of the Isa Local Government Council has been drawn to a recent comment by a social media user alleging that the Executive Chairman of Isa Local Government failed to act upon an alert about the movement of suspected bandits from a particular village within the area.

“The Council wishes to categorically state that this allegation is entirely false, misleading, and does not reflect the reality on ground. Upon receiving the said alert, the local government authority immediately took proactive steps by mobilizing local security guards and notifying the relevant security agencies for swift action”.

While stressing that,
security personnel were deployed to the reported location to forestall any attack, the bandits however diverted through another route outside the initially reported area, leading to the unfortunate incident.

Responding to the unfortunate incident, the council boss acted again by removing the commander in charge of the area for what he termed negligence of duty and replaced him with someoboy else which be charged with responsive and decisive action going forward.

“It is important to emphasize that the Isa Local Government has remained fully committed and responsive in addressing security challenges across all communities. Over the past months, the Council has consistently supported security agencies with logistics, operational allowances, fuel, and other essential materials to enhance their operational capacity”. Hon. Kamarawa noted.

Hon. Kamarawa who expressed his deepest condolences with the recent affected communities and families also divulged that he has prioritized the welfare of the local vigilante groups, ensuring their continuous readiness to collaborate with security formations to protect lives and property as well as ensure return of unhindered peace in the entire local government.

He further thanked Sokoto State governor, Ahmed Aliyu for his interventions and measures taken to combat banditry threats across the State.

“His Excellency has also established the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps, a homegrown security outfit designed to work alongside conventional forces and facilitated the establishment of an air component for Operation Fansan Yamma as a major step in enhancing rapid aerial response to security threats in our localities”. He noted.
