Sokoto Police Arrest 25 Years Old Aliyu For Killing 15 Years Old Wife, Suwaiba

The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested of one 25 years old Sufiyanu Aliyu of Gwanyal Village, Tangaza LGA, for the alleged killing of his 15 years old wife, Suwaiba Abubakar Bawa.

According to the a statement by the police public relations officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, the incident occurred on October 27, 2025, at about 1930hrs.

“The Command received a report at about 2000hrs from A good Smaritan, also of Gwanyal Village, concerning a violent domestic altercation at the suspect’s residence”.

While noting that preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect, Sufiyanu Aliyu had engaged in a serious misunderstanding with his wife that later escalated to tragic extend, the police spokesperson confirmed that Aliyu allegedly used a knife to inflict fatal injuries on his wife leading to her death.

“Upon receiving the report, police operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene. The scene was visited, processed, and cordoned off for forensic analysis. The suspect was apprehended at the scene, and a knife, believed to be the weapon used in the commission of the crime, was recovered as an exhibit”.

Continuing, DSP Rufai said the victim’s body was evacuated to a hospital, where a medical doctor officially confirmed her death.

The 25 years old husband, Aliyu  confessed to the commission of the crime during preliminary interrogation, thus the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Sokoto for a detailed and conclusive investigation which led to the suspect been charged to court for prosecution.

The State Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Musa while  commending the swift response of the officers involved, re reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property even as he vowed ensuring  justice is served in all cases.

CP Ahmed Musa in his appeal to the
public urged them to always seek a peaceful and lawful means of resolving disputes and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
