The Edo State House of Assembly has condemned a violent operation by the Nigerian Army and the NDLEA in Ukpuje Community, Owan West LGA, which left one person dead and several injured on 27 October.
During plenary on Tuesday in Benin, Speaker Chief Blessing Agbebaku called on Governor Monday Okpebholo and the state police commissioner to ensure a full investigation into the attack and urged the establishment of a panel of enquiry to ascertain the facts.
The lawmakers described the incident as a gruesome assault on innocent residents and unanimously expressed concern over the loss of life and injuries caused.
Separately, the Edo Assembly also screened three candidates—Felix Imoisilli, Prof. David Osifo, and Martins Omozogie—for membership of the Edo State Judicial Service Commission, signalling progress in the state’s judicial appointments.
