APC Chieftain Urges Service Chiefs To Intensify Fight Against Terrorists

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged the nation’s service chiefs to be more ruthless in tackling terrorists and bandits killing innocent Nigerians across the country.

Oyintiloye made the call while speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo.

He expressed concern over the increasing wave of killings by suspected bandits in parts of Kwara, Borno, Zamfara, and Niger States, saying the attacks must be brought to an end.

According to him, the heads of security agencies must “take the bull by the horns” and go hard on the perpetrators and their sponsors.

The former lawmaker and member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) said many Nigerians still live in fear and anxiety despite the ongoing efforts of security agencies to contain insecurity.

“There is no doubt that the service chiefs are doing their best against these terrorists, but they need to be more ruthless with them,” Oyintiloye said.

“I will also urge them to look inward and fish out those who might be working against their efforts at the war front. This is important to restore public confidence in the security agencies and ensure peace and security in the country.

“People are tired and many of them are living in fear of the unknown due to the activities of those perpetrating violent crimes,” he added.

Oyintiloye also stressed the need to involve local security networks and community stakeholders in intelligence gathering to strengthen efforts in combating terrorism.

He said such collaboration would help prevent attacks and expose the financial networks sustaining terrorist groups in the country.

The APC chieftain commended President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly for their continued support and funding of the armed forces and other security agencies.

He expressed optimism that with unity, patriotism, and collective effort from all stakeholders, Nigeria would eventually overcome its security challenges.
