Zamfara SSG Attributes Massive APC E-membership Registration To Lawal’s Defection

Secretary to Zamfara Government (SSG), Malam Abubukar Nakwada, says the recent defection of Gov. Dauda Lawal to All Progressives Congress (APC) has resulted in massive e-membership registration within the party in the state.

Nakwada stated this on Monday while supervising the ongoing e-membership registration exercise in Gusau and Bungudu local government areas of the state.

According to him, the total APC e-membership registration has now reached 158,697 in Zamfara, just three days after the e-membership registration portal was reopened following the defection of the governor into the party.

He expressed satisfaction with the massive turnout of the governor’s supporters registering with APC, stressing that this was an indication of overwhelming public approval for his defection.

“Just three days after reopening registration, approximately 60,987 new members had registered, adding to the 97,710 already registered before Gov. Lawal joined the party a few days ago.

“This brings the APC’s total membership to 158,697 in the state as of 19:30 hours on March 15.

“On the average, no fewer than 20,329 people are formally registering with the party daily, demonstrating Gov. Lawal’s formidable grassroots appeal and the growing APC’s popularity in Zamfara,” he added.

Nakwada expressed the optimism that the new membership target would be achieved before the March 25 deadline.

He appreciated the resilience of Lawal’s supporters and their impressive turnout amidst harsh weather and fasting.

The SSG reiterated the governor’s commitment to continuing to serve the interests of the state.
