A Nigerian federal lawmaker has launched a campaign urging party members to register for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Rep. Kabiru Maipalace of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spoke in Gusau on Monday at a meeting of his support group, Maipalace Journey for 2027 and Beyond. He said voters must take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise to secure their democratic rights.
“The PVC is the electorate’s strongest weapon for choosing leaders with meaningful visions,” Maipalace told the gathering, while thanking supporters for their efforts in the 2023 elections.
The lawmaker commended Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal for what he described as significant developments in health, education and urban renewal within two years in office. He maintained that the progress recorded so far proved that voters were right to elect the PDP.
He urged citizens to sustain their support for the administration in order to ensure further development in the state. The chairman of the support group, Ali Bulala, also pledged to intensify voter registration campaigns at grassroots level.
The event concluded with the reception of new PDP non-indigene supporters who publicly declared their backing for Governor Lawal.
