Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has stated that the outstanding initiatives led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially within the FCT, have effectively undermined the coalition seeking to challenge his administration in the 2027 elections.
Prominent opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, have been attempting to create a coalition; however, they are struggling to find a solid platform for the forthcoming elections. The main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is beset by internal strife, leading many to question its capability to confront the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
At the inauguration of the Maitama-Gishiri Bridge and connecting roads in Abuja, Wike remarked, “The coalition is bound to fail; it has already failed. Your remarkable work has dismantled the coalition.” He reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s administration, adding, “Some may not be happy; many are predisposed to discontent. Under Tinubu, contractors now have faith in the government. Your accomplishments have extinguished the coalition in Nigeria.”
