Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has said that the wave of infrastructural development across Abuja is evidence of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to transforming the capital city.
Speaking on Monday at the inauguration of the Mohammed Isa Road Extension in Asokoro, Wike criticised those questioning Tinubu’s performance.
“You cannot say the FCT is working and Mr President is not working. He is working through us. One of his visions is that the FCT must compete with other world-class cities, and that is exactly what we are doing,” he said.
The minister noted that many of the projects currently being executed ought to have been done years ago, stressing that Tinubu’s administration was determined to close existing gaps.
Wike listed interventions in road construction, transport, sports, education, and healthcare as part of efforts to ensure balanced development. “No sector will be left untouched. All we need is patience and support,” he said.
He also urged residents to play their part by paying taxes. According to him, “good roads, drainages and streetlights are only possible if people pay their taxes.”
Wike assured residents that Abuja’s landscape was already changing and would look significantly different in the years ahead, while commending Tinubu’s leadership and vision for national renewal.
