Students and staff at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) will soon have access to 10 new hotlines dedicated to emergency response, part of a wider effort to strengthen communication and service delivery on campus.
The initiative was unveiled on Tuesday by Prof. Olufemi Saibu, Director of the Quality Assurance and SERVICOM Unit, during celebrations for the 2025 International Customer Service Week. This year’s theme is “Mission Possible.”
Alongside the hotlines, the university is also introducing a Closed User Group (CUG) phone network linking faculties directly with the Quality Assurance office. Saibu said the measures would “ensure faster responses to service issues and create a more efficient feedback system.”
He added that the unit had intensified monitoring of lectures, exams and laboratories, boosting punctuality, reducing malpractice and safeguarding academic integrity. In the most recent semester, 198 examinations were monitored, the highest figure yet recorded.
To mark ICSW, the university will host games, awareness campaigns and a stakeholders’ forum. Forty-four awards will also be presented to recognise outstanding staff and students, compared with 34 in the previous year.
