UN, US, Saudi Arabia, China, and Others Respond to Israel’s Attacks on Iran

Countries across the globe are reacting to Israel’s strikes on Iran, with many expressing criticism of the action.

In the early hours of Friday, Israel conducted numerous airstrikes on Iranian targets.

The Israeli military stated that a “pre-emptive, precise, combined offensive based on high-quality intelligence” had been launched, referred to as Operation Rising Lion.

China

China’s embassy in Iran described the situation as severe and complex. They advised Chinese citizens in the country to closely monitor developments and enhance their personal security measures.

United States

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified that the US was not involved in Israel’s strikes. He stated that “our top priority is protecting American forces in the region.”

United Nations

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned any military escalation in the Middle East. A spokesperson for the UN chief released a statement reported by Reuters, urging both sides to exercise restraint.

India

Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, indicated that the country was closely monitoring the evolving situation. He called on both parties to avoid escalation, noting that India maintains “close and friendly” relations with both Israel and Iran.

Saudi Arabia

In contrast, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the developments. It described the attack as blatant Israeli aggression, asserting that it undermines Iran’s sovereignty and security and constitutes a clear violation of international laws and norms.
