Police authorities in Nigeria’s Ebonyi State say they are pursuing armed assailants who killed two people during an attack in Oriuzor, a community in Ezza North Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu confirmed the killings to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, noting that the incident occurred on 1 November.
Ukandu identified the victims as Ifeanyi Ogele, a barber who was shot dead while working in his shop, and Obumneme Nweke, a tricycle operator, who was attacked and killed a short distance away.
He said the command had opened an investigation to determine the motive behind the killings, adding that security operatives were already closing in on the suspects.
“No arrests have been made yet, but our men are on their trail,” he said.
Police have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with investigators as efforts continue to restore peace in the area.
