Troops Strike Hard: 15 Terrorists Neutralised, 30 Lives Saved in Nationwide Campaign

The Nigerian Army has successfully neutralised 15 terrorists, apprehended 42 criminal suspects, and rescued 30 individuals kidnapped during a series of operations across the nation.

A credible source from Army Headquarters confirmed on Sunday that these coordinated efforts spanned the North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-West, and South-South regions.

The source highlighted that troops thwarted planned attacks by ISWAP and Boko Haram in Borno and Yobe states, specifically in areas such as Dikwa, Gwoza, Bama, Banki, and Gujba.

During these operations, 15 terrorists were killed while others escaped, leaving behind rifles, ammunition, grenades, explosives, motorcycles, and communication equipment.

In Kaduna State, joint operations with police and other security agencies led to the arrest of 15 individuals involved in drug-related crimes. Additionally, 25 suspects were detained in Bayelsa State and two in Delta State for oil theft.

In Benue State, troops from Operation Whirl Stroke rescued 27 kidnap victims in Amoda, while three others were freed in separate encounters in Borno and Sokoto states after intense firefights with terrorists.

Moreover, the troops dismantled illegal crude oil bunkering sites in Imo, Rivers, and Delta states, seizing thousands of litres of stolen petroleum products.

In Ogun State, a drug syndicate was intercepted with a significant quantity of cannabis.

The source reiterated the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to national security, emphasising the essential role of inter-agency collaboration in combating terrorism and other criminal activities. These operations are also aimed at fostering safer environments to enhance agricultural productivity, aligning with the Federal Government’s food security strategy.
