Trinity University VC Calls For Inclusion In NELFUND And TETFund Schemes

The Vice-Chancellor of Trinity University, Prof. Clement Kolawole, has urged the Federal Government to extend education funding schemes to private universities.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Monday, Kolawole called for private university students to benefit from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and for staff to access the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

He said equitable access to funding would strengthen the entire education sector and improve outcomes across institutions.

The briefing was held to outline activities for the university’s upcoming eighth matriculation and fourth convocation ceremonies.

Kolawole said a total of 400 students would graduate across various faculties, with 51 achieving First Class honours and 61 graduating with Second Class Upper Division.

He highlighted planned engagements between students and alumni as part of the convocation activities, aimed at fostering mentorship and career development.

The convocation lecture, themed “Convoking a Galaxy of Stars: Empowered to Make Global Impact”, will be delivered by Poju Oyemade, while the matriculation lecture will be presented by Joseph Ayodele.

Kolawole also announced the launch of a Skills Acquisition Academy designed to equip students with employable skills and reduce joblessness.

He said the university had signed partnership agreements with other institutions to enhance training and support entrepreneurship among graduates.

Dr Oluranti Adedayo, a member of the Governing Council, said the institution was focused on producing graduates capable of addressing societal challenges through innovation and service.
